Starforced not to play
Scrapland is unplayable on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines. The reason for this incompatibility is sadly because the game includes one of the most notorious copy protection schemes ever inflicted on PC gamers. The Starforce copy protection uses its own low-level driver that only works on Windows XP (and then not all of the time). If you do try to install and play this game, be warned that Starforce can cause system instability and other problems and is even considered a form of malware by many users. We did try the game on our Windows XP installation too, but it didn’t work there either, instead it asked us to reboot the PC every time we tried to start the game.
The only possible way to get the game working again would be to remove the copy protection. It is against site policy to link to game cracks or similar software, though we can tell you our efforts to remove the copy protection proved fruitless. It’s sad and somewhat ironic that the only people who could possibly still play this game are the people who pirated it.
That’s too bad. I just got this game for Christmas and mistakenly thought it was SecuROM (so much for my research). I’ve got a XP box that I still keep for older games but there’s no way I’m messing that up just for this. Thanks.

It definitely is! No DLC. It’s pretty much the only way to play the game at this point.
Motyka is right: there are Scrapland versions without that nasty Starforce copy protection. There also exists a german version from “Computer Bild Spiele” without SF.
SF-free versions are available from GameCopyWorld.
Just NEVER try to run the Starfoce-protected version because this actually activates StarForce!

I also was able to install Scrapland without that nasty Starforce copy protection. It can be played in Windows 10.
